I’ve got more change than a little bit
June 23, 2008
Tag:No TagsThose of my readers who know me and my husband personally are probably aware of the types of changes happening in our lives right now. For those who rely on this blog to keep up with me, a bit of news: We’re moving to Raleigh, North Carolina! We leave in about 24 hours. You may wonder why we’re returning to the east coast after only 1 year here in Seattle. Many reasons, all of them good:
- I want to live closer to my family and they’re all on the east coast.
- We feel the cost of living in Seattle is higher than what we want to pay.
- We quickly found great jobs in the Triangle area and the new jobs pay better than our current jobs in Seattle.
- We’re just ready for a change.
I don’t know if I’ll ever return to live in Seattle. I prefer to focus on the present and trust that I’ll know what to do in each moment as I experience it. For now, the plan is to spend some time getting to know the Triangle area (the Triangle is formed by the cities of Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill) and focusing on some personal and professional goals and intentions while there. More on that later.
To those I leave behind in Seattle, thank you! I’ll be back to visit you and I invite you to come see us in North Carolina. If there’s anyone from the Triangle area reading this blog entry, please get in touch. I’m eager to meet people in my new community!
5 North Carolina attractions and activities we intend to experience by year’s end:
- A concert or picnic at Duke Gardens
- A weekend excursion to Asheville, including a Sunday morning visit to their Center for Spiritual Living
- A trip to Hatteras Island, Kitty Hawk, and other Outer Banks communities
- Wafting the Eno River in Durham
- The Barkley Hendricks “Birth of the Cool” Exhibit at the Nasher Art Musuem at Duke University
Well, I’m getting sleepy and I still have some final (minor) packing to finish before morning. My next post will be from Raleigh.

Wow, you guys move fast. Good luck on the relocation. If you create a Linkedin account for yourself and search for some organizations and alumni groups you belong to that will be a good way to make some new connections in the Carolinas too.
